Transition is a movement of communities, people coming together to re-imagine, redesign and rebuild our world at a time when we need to stop burning fossil fuels.  In the UK we are in a time of uncertainty and change, there are huge inequalities in our society, many of us feel insecure and worried by the threat of community, social, political, economic and climate breakdown.

Transition Towns are community-led, local organisations that exist to strengthen local communities, the local economy, reduce our environmental impact, and build our resilience for a future with less cheap energy and a changing climate.

Transition is a movement that has been growing since 2005.  It is about communities stepping up to address the big challenges they face by starting local. They seek to nurture a caring culture, one focused on supporting each other, both as groups or as wider communities.
